How To Properly Label Cream Products

As a cosmetic manufacturer, it's important to make sure your products look good on the shelf. But it's just as important to make sure your labels are compliant with FDA guidelines. Here's a quick overview of what you need to know.

FDA Regulations for Cosmetic Labeling

All cosmetics must be labeled in accordance with the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA). This federal law requires that all labeling be truthful and not misleading, including claims about ingredients, efficacy, and safety. In addition, the FDA has specific regulations for cosmetic labeling, which include the following:

  • The label must identify the product as a cosmetic by using the word "cosmetic" or a term with a similar meaning.
  • The label must list all ingredients in descending order of predominance. The ingredient list must be preceded by the heading "Ingredients." Ingredient names must be listed by their common or usual name.
  • The net quantity of contents must be declared on either the principal display panel or information panel in terms of weight, measure or numerical count. The declaration must be placed on the immediate container in an understandable manner.
  • The name and place of business of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor must appear on the information panel. If your company is located outside of the United States, you must also include either the U.S. importer's name or U.S distributor's name, as well as their place of business.

Complying with FDA regulations for cosmetic labeling may seem like a daunting task, but it's important to ensure that your products are safe and accurately represented to consumers. By following the tips outlined above and working with the right printers, you can create labels that are both attractive and compliant with all relevant regulations.

Cream Label Design

1. Use high-quality images and graphics:

People are visual creatures and often make purchasing decisions based on what they see. Use high-quality images and graphics on your labels to make them more eye-catching. If you're using images of people, make sure they look like they're using your product and that they look happy with the project results. And don't add stock photos to your labeling process. Always stick with original content.

2. Use bright colors

Bright colors can grab attention and help your products stand out on store shelves. But be careful not to use too many colors or too much text on your labels, as this can make them look cluttered and messy. Be creative and search for the right color ideas that will match your cream items flawlessly.

3. Opt for the right fonts and sizes

The font you use on your label should be easy to read from a distance. Avoid using elaborate or decorative fonts that might be hard to read. And remember to keep the font size large enough so that people can easily read it from a few feet away.

4. Include all required information

This is probably the most important tip of all! Your labels must include all required information such as the name and address of the manufacturer, a list of ingredients, any warnings, and an expiration date (if applicable). Not including this information can get you into trouble with the FDA so be sure to double-check that everything is included before printing your cosmetic labels.
